Shellee Smith

Shellee Smith is the president and founder of Global Media Advisors Group, an international media consulting firm dedicated to building bridges and business through media.

Shellee is a Peabody and Emmy Award-winning communicator and former network television correspondent with global media contacts. She brings more than 20 years of experience in communications, broadcast journalism, and management consulting to her clients. From Beijing to New York, Shellee and her team provide expertise in strategic communications, crisis management, media relations, executive coaching and digital storytelling. GMAG also provides a wide range of training programs for executives and media professionals.

Throughout her career, Shellee has garnered the most prestigious awards in broadcast journalism, including seven Emmys, the Alfred duPont Columbia University Award, the George Foster Peabody Award, two national Edward R. Murrow Awards, an Iris Award, and an Investigative Reporters & Editors Award. She was featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show as one of the top investigative reporters in the country.

As a national correspondent for NBC News based in Los Angeles and London, she covered breaking news stories and in-depth features for the Today Show, Nightly News with Brian Williams, MSNBC and CNBC, reporting on numerous national and international stories. Before joining NBC News, Shellee led a nationally recognized investigative team at WXYZ-TV in Detroit.

Shellee has worked on both sides of the microphone, as a newscaster and a company spokesperson. She served as the Director of Communications for Zecco Holdings Inc., an online investment firm, which she helped launch on Wall Street, securing live coverage on CNBC and interviews with numerous business and financial media. She also provided media training for company executives.

She has been a strategic counselor to executives and communicators at a broad range of companies including the Blackstone Group, Western Union, Avery Dennison, Snap-on, ARAMARK and others. She works directly with the C-suite to determine their communication needs and further their business objectives.

Shellee earned bachelor degrees in journalism and German Area Studies from the University of Missouri in Columbia. She has been a guest lecturer for the Missouri School of Journalism and the USC Annenberg School of Communication & Journalism.

Susan Biesack

Susan Biesack

Susan Biesack is an award-winning television producer who has been creating and developing engaging content for the entertainment industry for 20 years. A skillful storyteller, she has written and produced branding videos, television pilots, talk shows, magazine features, soft scripted reality series and documentaries. Her work has been seen on Vh1, HGTV, TV Land, Animal Planet, CMT and PBS.

Susan heads our Digital Storytelling team dedicated to helping companies and organizations leverage the power of media for maximum results. Whether on a grand scale or for the small screen, Susan understands all the elements important to messaging and works closely with clients to shape a compelling story.

Her television credits include writing and producing the comedic soft-scripted TV Land series LIVING IN TV LAND, featuring classic TV stars such as Adam West (Batman), Barry Williams (Brady Bunch), Fred Willard (Best in Show) and the late Davy Jones (The Monkees). She was also a Supervising Producer of more than a dozen specials for the cable channel Animal Planet. She produced the successful syndicated series, STRANGE UNIVERSE, dealing with paranormal phenomena. And she co-created along with Vh1 the innovative celebrity-dating pilot, CELEBRITY MATCHMAKERS.

Her work on the 100th episode of Vh1’s groundbreaking series, BEHIND THE MUSIC, which profiled music icon Tina Turner, earned Sue an Emmy nomination.

After clocking countless hours in the control room and in the field, working in single and multi-camera production, Susan expanded into other media arenas producing live stage events including the TCM Classic Film Festival and The Women’s Conference hosted by former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver. 

Susan got her start in TV working as a researcher and assignment editor for the CBS Evening News with Dan Rather. She also worked as an Associate Producer on the Fox news magazine, FRONT PAGE co-hosted by Ron Reagan and Josh Mankiewitcz. 

Susan received her B.A. in Economics from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Andrea Fleischer

Andrea Fleischer

Andrea Fleischer is an award-winning news magazine and documentary television producer and former on-air reporter with more than 25 years experience in broadcasting. She has also produced programming for non-profits and worked as a media trainer and consultant.

Andrea’s work has appeared nationally on ABC News 20/20, Primetime Live, and World News Tonight, in addition to PBS, NBC, CBS, CNBC, OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network), Discovery, and truTV. She is the recipient of an Emmy award for a documentary on aging in America, a Prism Award for an ABC News special on women and smoking, and two national Emmy nominations for Outstanding Investigative Reporting of a Business News Story.

Earlier in her career, Andrea also appeared in front of the camera as a medical and science reporter for CNN, and Capitol Hill and White House correspondent for the Cox-owned television stations. She has reported stories on a wide range of subjects in the U.S. and abroad, with a specialty in medical and consumer issues. In 2008 a documentary produced for the American Society of Hematologists was the recipient of two silver Telly Awards.

As Director of Special Media Placement at Columbia University Medical Center, Andrea put her broadcasting experience to work in public relations and as a media trainer and coach, dramatically improving media coverage for the university’s schools of science and medicine. She has also provided media training services to Porter Novelli. In 2005 she was a guest speaker at Cornell University.

Andrea holds an M.A. in Broadcast Journalism from Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. She received her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Cincinnati.

Melissa Zhuo

Melissa Zhuo heads the GMAG’s office in Beijing, China. In her role as Manager, she assists clients and oversees the firm’s presence throughout Asia.

Melissa holds an M.S. degree from Park School of Communications at Ithaca College. She received her B.S. from Beijing Institute of Technology. Melissa has more than 15 years of experience as a trainer, course developer, and senior instructional technologist at the colleges such as Berklee College of Music and Claremont McKenna College. She is fluent in English and Mandarin.

Olive Talley

Olive Talley

Olive Talley is an award-winning television producer, journalist and experienced manager of creative teams.

As a media consultant, Olive played a vital role at the Institute of Child Development at Texas Christian University, a non-profit group that serves at-risk children and their families.  Olive conceptualized and led the development of more than 50 hours of educational and promotional video in support of the group’s mission.  She also managed and strategized media and messaging as a member of the group’s leadership team.

Her corporate experience includes serving as the executive director of an online news channel and a vice-president in charge of communications and content development for a company that provided certified video training materials for first responders.

As a journalist, Olive’s work spanned radio stations, wire services, newspapers, and later network television. For 12 years, she was a staff producer at ABC News’ Primetime Live, 20/20 and Dateline NBC, where she worked closely with high-profile anchors including Stone Phillips, Diane Sawyer, and Hoda Kotb.  Her subsequent work as a producer has been seen on the Katie show with Katie Couric, ABC World News Tonight, ABC Nightline, NBC Nightly News, MSNBC, The Weather Channel, Discovery and others.

Olive’s work in print and broadcasting earned numerous honors. She’s a two-time Emmy finalist, a Pulitzer Prize finalist, and winner of the George Polk Award, a National Headliner Award for Outstanding Network Documentary, an Alfred I. DuPont Columbia University Award for Hurricane Katrina coverage and dozens of other national and state awards for reporting, producing and writing. Her corporate video work has garnered several Telly Awards.

Olive holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Texas at Austin. She attended Harvard on a Nieman Fellowship. She has taught journalism and lectured at various colleges and universities and served on the board of the University of Missouri-based non-profit, Investigative Reporters & Editors (IRE).  She currently sits on the Advisory Council of the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center at the University of Texas in Austin.
